Baile Tusnad is a tourist city located in one of the most beautiful spa area of the Harghita Mountains chain, in Romania by population between Ciuc depression, and Sfantu Gheorghe city. The city is enclosed by Baraolt Mountains at west and Bodoc Mountains at south. Baile Tusnad is being placed in a mountain are surrounded by coniferous trees, such as the fir so the air is rich in ozone and negative ions. Baile Tusnad spa is rich in mesothermal, carbon, sodium, ferruginous mineral waters, rich in calcium and magnesium. “Baila Tusnad” mountain resort offers treating possibilities for cardiovascular, nervous central system, and urinary system diseases through mineral springs baths, mud baths, galvanic baths, paraffin dips. The main tourist attractions in the vicinity of the Baile Tusnad city are the following:
- STANCA SOIMILOR (“HAWKS’ CLIFF) is located in Baile Tusnad, at 834 meters altitude on the Olt River’s right bank. It can be reached through mountain narrow ways and foot paths starting from the resort. Here, we can find also, the ruins of the “Stanca Soimilor” (“Hawks’ Cliff”) Fortress. Out of this fortress’ holes the haws were sent out as forfeits for Turks;
Cetatea Miko (“Miko Fortress”) placed at 32 kilometres away from Baile Tusnad: the Ethnographic museum of Miercurea Ciuc city;
- Sfanta Ana (“Sainte Anne”) volcanic crater lake, preserved intact is unique in Central Europe. As volcanic, crater lake, it has a round shape and a 4.5 meters medium debt. The lake is fed only with pluvial waters and due to this fact it has very clear, limpid and pure water;
Sfanta Ana (“Sainte Anne”) Natural Reservation is inhabited by very rare species of plants;
- Manastirea Sf Proroc Ilie (“Saint Ilie” Monastery) orthodox monastery, is located at 147 km away from Baile Tusnad;
Sumuleu Baroque Church belonging to Franciscans monks order and endowed with a very rare is placed at 35 km away from the city;
- Balvanyos Fortress ruins, a precipice emanating hydrogen sulphide, Birds’ Cemetery, Poiana Narciselor (“Narcissuses Glade) nature monument are all located at 40 km away from Baile Tusnad;
The largest natural barrier lake of Romania is located at 110 km away from the mountain resort;
Lazar Count Castle and Movila tatarilor (Tartars’ Knoll) in Lazarea village;
